Ignoring the inherent irony in a sports person peddling lollies, this is definitely smart marketing at work. Taking cheap, readily available sugar treats, repackaging them and slapping a sports star brand on them so you can charge double the price is brilliant. Plus all the free publicity this got when it was launched (loads of finger wagging mums up in arms about sports and lollies combo) really helped the first time buyer seek this product out.

It’s a cutesy brand that’s not going to make Sharapova anywhere near as much money as tennis but so what.
